When it comes to internet marketing and website optimisation your campaign must be planned before any action is taken. Failing to make the correct plan could cost you alot of time, money and resourses. All of which can be saved.
There has been alot of talk over the years about ‘keywords’ and ‘key phrases’. Some SEO companies say that you don’t need to worry about keywords but we say that they are 100% wrong.
Your keywords are words and phrases that your potential visitors are typing in on the search engines to find you. If you plan to market your website to the wrong keywords then you will never succeed. Maybe you’ll get to the first page of Google for your chosen phrase but if it is not chosen using proven methods then the top 10 listing may be useless!
As a rule of thumb SEO is excellent for ‘long-tail’ keywords and SEM is the best for ‘shorter generic keywords’.
A long-tail keyword usually consists of 3 or more words. It’s a really specific phrase like ‘Planning a Website Marketing Campaign’ or even ‘Choosing Keywords for SEO’. You’ll agree that looking at these long-tail phrases makes you say “Yes they are very specific” or “Anyone typing them in is sure to need the information on this page”. These are low traffic keywords but usually generate a higher conversion rate.
What do we mean by that ? Basically there is no point in sending traffic to your website if it’s not ready for them. Would you invite friends round for a dinner party if your house was a mess? Probably not. So you shouldn’t do this to your website either.
